ST-AKW: A Photographic Farewell
An Azza Air Transport 707-300C, operating for Sudan Airways, crashed on take off today.
The aircraft bearing registration ST-AKW was first delivered as a passenger aircraft to Lufthansa in February 1969 and was the 788th 707 made off the Boeing line ( cn 20123/788 ).
During its tenure, it served with a number of carriers including Condor and Nile Air Safaris and began its life as a freighter with Azza Air Transport. Airline Industry Review pays a photographic farewell to this hard worked old bird.

Going as far as Hong Kong was nothing new for her. Seen under the Sudanese registration ST-AKW for the first time. Wearing Nile Safaris colours as a passenger version.
She was a frequent visitor to Sharjah. One of her last shots, taken in May 2009. Photo Michael Fabry.
Roaring of the gracious. Non-hushkitted JT3D-3B Stage 1 engines of the 707. ST-AKW was one of the last rare examples still flying with these engines. Photo Alastair T. Gardiner.
Goodbye 788 ! You were one hard working bird !
