About

Airline Industry Review is a blog focusing on key events in commercial aviation industry, and providing commentary and analysis.
This blog’s story does not go without saying a word about who am I .
My name is Miyuru and I am a Sri Lankan school student of 18 yrs old who is highly passionate on commercial aviation. Ever since I can remember, I have been aircraft obsessed ( and I fondly remember, when I was small, how much I wanted my father to bring me a sticker card of aircraft photos, whenever I went to the hospital, that was only available at a shop near the hospital ) and it later evolved into airlines.
When I was about 9 years old, I started to keep records about each aircraft that flew over my home ( thankfully my home is right under an approach path to CMB ) and soon I had a great knowledge on the whole flight schedule of the Colombo airport and each aircraft type that flew over my home and even to report the average delay of a given flight. I had the habit of going to the Public Viewing Pavilion of Colombo Airport ( now closed ) on each vacation and spend all the day watching the wonderful birds and their flight schedules .
It was at this time that I got interested on day to day operations of an airline and after hearing about my interests, the owner of the pavilion’s catering company gave me a few copies of the Airports International magazine. This is where I began to develop the knowledge on what really were the basics of airline operations and soon I received some copies of ATW and Flight magazines which really glued me and taught me on the already highly interesting subject of airline management. I researched on every aspect of an airline’s operation – from route development to aircraft economics to marketing to human resources and was able to build a sound knowledge on all of these.
It was back in 2007, just a few days after my 17th birthday, that I felt the urge to express my views on aviation. I wanted to start this new type of publication called a blog, but I did not have a computer, nor a high-speed internet connection. So I used my mobile phone’s web browser, to create a blog on Blogger, over GPRS packet data, which was called Sri Lankan Aviation – it then evolved into Aero Everyday, things developed fast and now Airline Industry Review – still solely run from my mobile – and it now is a blog running on a self-hosted WordPress installation.
